A national initiative
In November 2018, the Prime Minister of France launched a call for projects under the slogan “Territoires d’innovation” (Regions for innovation).
Its aim was to select and support regions proposing innovative solutions for the transformation of our country and provide a solid response to the transition-related challenges we are facing in the interests of economic development.
Regional recognition
The Departments of Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Hautes-Pyrénées are two of 24 regions certified at the national level.
The Pyrénées, Territoire d’Innovations is a programme that will invest €127 million over 10 years, including government funding of up to €23.7 million, in order to achieve a number of objectives by the year 2030 and respond to the challenges created by ecological transition:
- Doubling local green energy production
- Making the farmer a central stakeholder in agroecology most notably through farm digitalisation
- Providing vocational training for the green and digital jobs of tomorrow.
Local mobilisation
More than 50 partners have joined the initiative and are now stakeholders in this ambition for transformation. Regional authorities, the Université of Pau and of the Pays de l’Adour, the Pyrénées-Atlantiques Chamber of Agriculture, a number of large industrial groups (SFR, ENGIE), SMEs (Tissages Moutet, CGX, etc.) as well as various startups (Lean Connected, Gaz de Ferme, etc.), have all invested in innovative projects with transformation as the ultimate goal.
